For generations, the Democratic and Republican Parties have been advocates not for the people, but for Businesses and Moneyed Interests.
We have watched wealth inequality spiral since the Reagan tax cuts, and it shows. Our roads are in disrepair, our public transit system is inadequate, and we have found lead in the soil in Santa Ana and we do nothing about it. We are overcrowded, and with no affordable multi family housing, we are pricing out residents who have been here for generations. Many Americans cannot afford a surprise $400 expense, let alone a trip to the ER or the birth of a child. Join me in the fight to end wealth disparity and poverty, improve health care outcomes for ALL of our citizens, and return our infrastructure to the standards we all deserve.
Our Infrastructure is Inadequate. I want to create a public jobs program modeled after the Army Corps of Engineers, to build public transportation like subways and elevated trains, repair and modernize our highway systems, build affordable government housing, and expand and protect our public parks and natural landscapes. We can do all of this by employing citizens directly, instead of allowing middle men to scrape taxpayer money to never provide meaningful progress. Instead of wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on projects that get caught up in red tape, bidding wars, and politics, we can rebuild American infrastructure to meet its modern demands.
Combatting Wealth Inequality is mandatory if we want to continue to live in a society that is truly of, by, and for the People. Since the Reagan tax cuts, the gap between the bottom 50% and the top 1% has only widened, and our social safety nets like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid have all suffered for it. We must combat the greed of modern Oligarchy not only for ourselves, but especially for the voiceless who suffer the greatest. Rent prices are always increasing, and your take home income is not. Groceries, gasoline, utilities, all climbing ever higher, as the wealthiest among us are able to shrug off the economic instability. Some of the greatest economic prosperity we have seen as a nation was in the 1950's and 1960's where we had a Top Marginal Tax rate of 91%; today that number is 37%. Without addressing the tax problem, regular Americans will continue to be left behind.
It Is Time For Universal Healthcare. In the wealthiest Nation on Earth, not a single Citizen should die to a lack of healthcare. Healthcare in this country has been weaponized against the poor and less fortunate, as our best doctors serve those with the most money. When the rest of the developed world has Universal Healthcare, America has Medical Bankruptcy. The existence of the profit motive in Medicine has corrupted our Health Care System, but it is NOT beyond repair. By implementing Medicare For All as a starting point, and moving towards a Single Payer system, we can save 68,000 Americans, and nearly 450 billion dollars annually. People must come before profits.
With my agenda, I believe we can make our District, Safer, Wealthier, and Healthier!
